Episode 48 – Drill Press

48_DrillPressIn this episode of 360 with 360WoodWorking, Chuck and Glen talk about the drill press. Is it a worthwhile machine in the shop, or does it simply eat up valuable real estate? This seems to be an area where the two 360 guys agree, and it’s interesting to hear how and why of their first press purchase. But the drill press is not the only machine that comes up in the conversation. Ever wonder why a floor mortiser has a titling head? And which of the guys has a lathe capable of turning a 9′-0″ post? All that and more in this episode.

Join the guys twice each week for six lively minutes of discussion on everything from tools to techniques to wood selection (and more). Chuck & Glen, and sometimes a surprise guest, all have their own opinions. Sometimes they agree and sometimes they don’t, but the conversation is always information packed and lots of fun.

  1. My Drill Press is a Delta 17-950L that was specifically intended for woodworkers. It has a large table which tilts both left-right and front-back. I have used the multiple tilting feature to create brackets for the struts on my telescope.

Having it has altered many of my woodworking designs and simplified many of my builds.

However, as you both pointed out, it isn’t a must have tool.
