Episode 31 – Router Bits w/ Jim Heavey

31_RouterBitIn this episode of 360 with 360WoodWorking, the 360 crew is joined by Jim Heavey from WOOD magazine. The topic is: Should you buy router bit sets or individual router bits? Jim has many great thoughts about this topic because he’s a router guy and has taught this subject in his The Woodworking Show presentations. Find out what he considers to be the six router bits all woodworkers should own. Plus learn his tip if you already have one of those mega kits in your shop.

Join the guys twice each week for six lively minutes of discussion on everything from tools to techniques to wood selection (and more). Bob, Chuck & Glen all have their own opinions. Sometimes they agree and sometimes they don’t, but the conversation is always information packed and lots of fun.

  1. What a great topic, I really wish I would have known this years ago (BTT “Before the Talk”) when I was stocking my Bit collection.

Jim mentioned that you should spend the extra money and buy the quality bit. I have no problem spending a little more money for a quality tools. My question without mentioning manufacturers

Is there a difference between the $22.00 bit from Manufacturer A and the $60.00-$80.00 bit from Manufacturer B (same profile and size) Other than the paying more money for a name is there a notable difference

Thanks for all the great information you guys are throwing out to us

    Joey C.
