Episode 16 – Cutting It Close

B_PushToolsIn this episode of 360 with 360WoodWorking, the 360 crew discusses table saw cuts and how small they work. The topic is: Cutting thin stuff at the table saw? Do you or don’t you? Are you nuts to do that using a power tool? The conversation is all over the place in this episode. The main subject, of course, is discussed, but then the guys wonder off talking about push sticks and other essential table saw accoutrement. You have to listen just to find out which woodworker uses a shoe as a push stick!

Join the guys twice each week for six lively minutes of discussion on everything from tools to techniques to wood selection (and more). Bob, Chuck & Glen all have their own opinions. Sometimes they agree and sometimes they don’t, but the conversation is always information packed and lots of fun.

  1. “Sticks” are awkward and scary to me. A shoe with a replaceable heel is my preference and sometimes a feather board depending on the width of the stock.

I agree that plastic push blocks and shoes don’t have a pleasant smell when they encounter the blade and I feel like I’m cutting up money when I can use scraps to make one that is just as effective and possibly safer to use.

  2. Good discussion.
