D_C_1In this episode of 360 with 360WoodWorking, the 360 guys discuss some odd features on dust collectors.

Join the guys twice each week for six lively minutes of discussion on everything from tools to techniques to wood selection (and more). Chuck & Glen, and sometimes a surprise guest, all have their own opinions. Sometimes they agree and sometimes they don’t, but the conversation is always information packed and lots of fun.

  1. I was missing a hand-mirror and I went out to the shop and my damn dust collector was checking it’s hair… 🙂
    And “dust collectors just suck”…
Chuck was on a roll today.

I have a Harbor Freight because it was sooo inexpensive, but the darn thing has worked like a horse for almost 7 years now.
Hard to beat for under $200.00.
I outfitted it with the separator & metal garbage can and a Wein (sp?) canister filter and that has made a BIG difference.
(But the bag-belt is crazy hard to take off & reattach.

Excellent idea about the rare-earth magnets.

    Thanks
    Eric

  2. Sychronized Idiots?

  3. The Dust Gorilla models do have a bin that rolls under (line it with a bag) then four clamps come down and can pull it up the 1/4″ to the gasket.

Down side is they are a small bin.

Up side is easy attachment and because it is a small bin, it isn’t back breaking work to change out a bag.

The “full bag” detector is OK but can be a bit fussy and give false positives if not set up right or the bag not installed correctly.
