  1. I ran into this – 18″ wide stock curly cherry with only a 13″ planer. Flattened it by hand. Started with a scrub plane, then set up two number 7’s with different amounts of camber on the blade. Used the #7’s as winding sticks. Finished with a smoother. Was surprised at how flat I was able to get it. It took a while and was a lot of work. As uncle Ron used to say – there’s no such thing … woodworker.
